Hatteras Designs has quickly evolved since its inception, from a business with one website into a full service internet consulting firm serving business and community organizations across eastern North Carolina. Corporate Website Design and Development Corporate website design and development is the core business of Hatteras Designs.  We  help our clients present their ideas on the internet in a clear, crisp and attractive manner that quickly creates user loyalty among visitors to the site. In addition, our approach to website design is particularly suited to companies and organizations that seek to convey a sense of  “place” in addition to “presence” on their internet sites.  The hallmark of our work is our use of rich natural photography to frame and enhance the presentation of the client’s message and to improve the visual appeal, giving visitors a strong reason for coming back.  Our design techniques produce websites that are easy for visitors to navigate, that are flexible for varied needs and that will load faster regardless of the user’s internet connection speed.  Our flexible designs allow visitors with limited time to quickly go through the pages for an effective overview of the site or, for visitors with more time,  they allow the visitor to "drill down" through unlimited layers of organized content, as needed. Other Products and Services The business began in 1999 with its website, HatterasOnMyMind.com, focusing on selling Outer Banks photography packaged in ScreenSavers for PC’s.  As a community service, the firm quickly added a feature to the website for artists and writers of Hatteras Island to showcase and sell their work on the internet.  The firm develops and hosts webpages for local artists and writers without charge in order to provide assistance to the many very talented folks on the island.  Next, local charter sportfishing boats were added to the site to assist in attracting visitors to Hatteras.  The site provides convenient weather information (both inshore and offshore), visitor information and community service areas. In 2001, the firm began a business of developing customized ScreenSaver products for corporate clients as an innovative medium for promoting a business, product or geographical area.  One client, a major real estate firm in New Bern, uses Hatteras Designs’ ScreenSavers as gifts for visitors considering a move to their city.  The product showcases the attractiveness of the New Bern area in addition to helping the customer remember the real estate company on decision day. In 2002, the firm began providing uniquely customized ScreenSavers for each of the four U. S. National Park Service sites on the Outer Banks.  Each customized ScreenSaver features only the National Park Service site where it is being sold, such as the Wright Brothers National Memorial or the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse.  Additional products are being developed for other National Park Service sites.
